How We Wrote High-Impact Content for a Silicon Valley AI Sales Startup

California, USA | June 2023–ongoing

Meet the client: An AI sales automation startup backed by Y Combinator

AiSDR is a Silicon Valley startup with Ukrainian roots that reimagines how sales development representatives (SDRs) work. Its AI-powered platform automates lead qualification, personalized outreach, and meeting scheduling — tasks that traditionally take SDRs hours each day.

Investors also saw the potential. Backed by Y Combinator, Rebel Fund, SID Venture Partners, and Pioneer Fund, AiSDR secured $3M in funding to scale its solution.

Task and purpose: Creating anticipation before launch

Our collaboration with AiSDR started before the product had even launched. Serial entrepreneurs Yuriy Zaremba and Oleg Zaremba reached out with a clear objective: build awareness, attract early adopters, and keep the audience engaged from day one.

We’ve been writing content for their previous startup, Axdraft, for the past 5 years. Since this Y Combinator-backed project is now part of Onit, we were excited to switch to AiSDR.

These are the content strategy goals we’ve been working on together with AiSDR:

  • Build anticipation, attract early adopters, and establish a recognizable brand
  • Highlight the product’s relevance for SDR tasks, the industries it serves, and the company’s mission
  • Tell about the role of AI in SDR processes in detail to drive traffic, educate the audience, and engage the users
  • Boost the SEO rankings of their website
  • Generate leads by offering downloadable guides with practical advice, showcasing expertise, and collecting contact information
  • Keep content fresh and optimized to maintain its competitiveness in search rankings

The challenge: Standing out in a crowded AI space

AI topics are everywhere, and cutting through the noise surrounding its application was challenging. Our goal was to create expert-level content that showcases AiSDR’s real value instead of just "highlighting the importance of AI in today’s digital world."

To do this, we had to learn every nook and cranny of AiSDR’s functionality and turn that knowledge into meaningful content.

Given the client's ambitious plans, this had to be done quickly. The plan included 4 articles before the product’s official launch and a steady monthly content plan of 10 articles. We had to balance SEO requirements with engaging, accessible content and regularly update the older ones.

How we made it happen

Close cooperation and clear workflow

From the start, AiSDR’s team and ours worked hand in hand. Their CMO, Head of Content, and SEO experts collaborated with our content delivery manager, writers, and native editors.

This structure kept the workflow smooth and aligned. Everyone knew their role, and the shared vision helped us deliver content that reached the right audience.

A mix of content formats

To meet different goals, we created a range of content types:

  • Short articles (700-1,300 words). These were crafted at the beginning to capture interest and build anticipation before the official product launch.
  • Blog articles (2,300-3,000 words). Designed to support their SEO strategy, these pieces covered AI-related topics for experts and those new to the field, naturally incorporating keywords.
  • Long reads (up to 5,000 words). This kind of in-depth articles tackled more complex subjects, establishing AiSDR’s authority in the industry.
  • Fun articles. Lighter pieces that bring seasonal topics into the mix to keep the audience engaged.
  • Playbooks, guides, and other lead magnets. We also created detailed guides, white-paper-like pieces, and e-books that addressed the interests of AiSDR’s target audience in an accessible, professional tone of voice.

SEO-focused updates for better performance

AiSDR made a substantial investment in content, knowing that staying competitive meant maintaining strong rankings. So, while their team refined strategies, we fine-tuned the previously written content to address new trends and queries.

Sometimes, this meant minor tweaks; other times, we expanded posts with fact-based sections to capture new queries. On average, we updated 10 posts per month, adding 500–2,000 words per update. This consistent approach ensured the client’s content remained relevant and competitive in search rankings.

Business benefits

Content marketing for AiSDR took time and teamwork, combining efforts from their SEO experts, marketers, and the Raccoon Writing team. The results? Absolutely worth it.

  • Stable content delivery: By the end of 2024, we had created around 150 pieces for AiSDR.
  • Top-performing articles: AiSDR frequently sees articles performing exceptionally in SERPs. For example, articles like What is a Sales Persona? and 5 Companies That Failed from a Lack of Innovation (and 5 That Recovered) reached the SERP top 10 within a year, driving both traffic and impressions.
  • Consistent traffic growth: Website and blog traffic has steadily increased monthly. In fact, Google’s algorithm updates often boosted traffic thanks to the content's value.
  • Increased content output: Content publication jumped from 1-2 posts a week to daily posts, strengthening the company's online presence.
